I knew that
sunlight was a source of vitamin D which helps our bodies to absorb calcium,
which in turn helps to keep our bones strong.
I also knew from experience that lack of sunlight can cause depression, and conversely that sunlight will improve one's mental outlook.
But after reading this book I found out there is much more to sunlight.
I had a place on my shin that was red and from time to time would itch like crazy. It had been there for several years. I had a prescription cream from the dermatologist I used when the itching was too bad, but the Dr. had warned me to use it sparingly because it could thin the skin. I also tried over the counter anti-itch creams. Neither one did much good, and it was only a temporary relief.
Art Brownstein's book lists 22 ways that sunlight can make us well. It made sense to me so I started exposing the place on my leg to sunlight for 5-10 minutes a day. Miraculously the itchy red spot, that had plagued me for years, disappeared!
Here are just a few of the beneficial effects of sunlight:

We need to sun to help us be well. Remember the "Dark Ages" and the plague epidemic? During those times people were living in dark, crowded conditions with rats which carried the plague bacteria. It was the farmers who lived outside the cities in the countryside with the fresh air and sunlight that survived the plague.
Take stock of your everyday live. Are you getting enough sunshine? 10 minutes a day will go a long way to making you healthier and happier! Just don't over do it and get sunburn.
"No matter what looms ahead, if you can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it."
